The world’s a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly

A beautiful morning. Abigail got off to school in good time, looking sharp – first day and all – and then I drove Katherine downtown to an appointment on the East Side. We figured we might spend a few minutes at the greenmarket before the appointment and then I would head out to an Audubon Sanctuary about an hour away.  At 9:30 on a Thursday the drive downtown should not be more than 20/25 minutes.  An hour and 10 minutes later, Katherine got out of the car to walk the last two blocks.  I do not know but I am guessing this had to do with increased security because of the upcoming events on Sunday. Traffic heading back uptown was not as bad but still wasn’t good and I had to be back in the city by 2pm so I decided to stop at Inwood Hill Park, a tranquil, quiet and beautiful spot on the northern end of the island that I have written about before.

It was not as quiet as usual.
